One step at a time:

Reading through this article for perhaps the wrong reason (misleading headline) I actually discovered an important piece of wisdom contained within for all anxiety sufferers to know.

Initially I was drawn by the sort of click bait headline re a single moment of eureka that cured this woman’s anxiety. I thought oh I must share this single miracle moment on the Anxiety Ireland page!

Reading it though I didn’t discover a single moment at all.

Rather a really wise account of how several moments and several actions led this woman to a recovery from the worst of her anxiety.

Anxiety is a complex issue and so it’s answer is never as simple as we want it to be. Unless the anxiety is about one issue it’s rare that one change will get rid of it forever.

Even if the world changes, if we don’t change then we are susceptible to a recurrence of anxiety when times are bad and the chips are down.

Anxiety changes over moments and actions. Some typical moments can go in this order!

First realizing that worry and anxiety to an extreme level is not normal!

Second realizing that this is something we may need help for.

3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th… finding your own ways to manage it and transform it.

Be it through journaling, being grateful everyday, exercising, coaching, changing habits, self help books, eating right, meditating or working with a skilled therapist the list is endless!

The woman in this article didn’t have one moment where it suddenly changed she had many and had to get loads of help to change how she was doing things. She did things one step at a time.

Because how she was thinking and feeling wasn’t working for her.

Many of us kick start change by reading a good book, seeing an article on line or by chatting with a professional.

Anxiety Ireland from our location in Glasnevin and around the country connects people with anxiety with those most skilled at helping.

I am always delighted to chat to people how some sessions of CBT can transform any anxiety and give them back control over how they think, feel, and behave!

Have a great week everyone!

Michael.

Anxiety is like a Merry-go-round, taking use nowhere, it’s ok to step off!
